Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra
Vladimir Spivakov, conductor / Hibla Gerzmava, soprano / Danielle Akta, cello
Maestro Vladimir Spivakov and the acclaimed Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, called by the New York Times "first-class string performers", return to New York as a part of their North-American tour. Vladimir Spivakov, one of the world’s most prominent violinists and conductors, has lead the Moscow Virtuosi since 1979, setting up the gold standard for chamber music performance. The Washington Post has hailed the Virtuosi as "a dramatically unified ensemble" with "a sound that would put many full orchestras to shame". Moscow Virtuosi and Vladimir Spivakov are joined by the brilliant soprano and Metropolitan Opera star, Ms. Hibla Gerzmava, for the program of international opera hits and famous arias, as well as classical favorites performed by the orchestra.
Hibla Gerzmava rapidly established herself as a major force on the international opera stage since becoming the Grand Prix winner of the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition. Opera lovers admired Ms. Herzmava’s voice in the MET Opera productions of “Don Giovanni”, "Otello", "Turandot", and "Les Contes D’Hoffman". Ms. Gerzmava performed her sold-out debut recital at Carnegie Hall in October 2015.
