THE SEAGULL: ART LABYRINTH
Director: Alexander Molochnikov
This is an adventurous take on Anton Chekhov’s classic "The Seagull," directed by the acclaimed theater, film, opera and ballet director Alexander Molochnikov, currently exiled from Russia and based in the US.
The play centers on the main character, Treplev, and his frantic search through a hopeless maze of different art variations. The audience is then immersed in a real-time art labyrinth where actors, contemporary artists, musicians and art critics each fiercely debate their artistic viewpoint, the eternal question of human relations and what drives us to create and to love.
A workshop and a donor rehearsal are planned for August 2023, with the full rehearsals and performances planned in October-November 2023.
